What Orange dial light means
On DCS Series 9 grills, including the BE1-30AGN and BE1-30AGL, an orange halo around a dial means that dial is in use. When you turn one dial to OFF while another dial is still active, the halo on the dial you turned off changes from orange to white. Once every dial is off, all the halos dim. So an orange ring is normal information, not an alert. The sign to act on is the opposite one, a dial with no halo at all, which points to the grill's electrical supply.
Common causes of Orange dial light
- Power to the grill that is switched off or interrupted (only if the halos stay dark)
- A tripped GFI outlet or breaker feeding the grill
- A blown fuse in the grill's supply
1. If a halo is orange, check which dial it surrounds. That dial is still in use, so turn it to OFF when you finish cooking. 2. If no halos light at all, confirm the grill has live AC power. 3. Press RESET on any tripped GFI outlet that feeds the grill. 4. Check the fuse for the grill's supply. 5. If you ever smell gas, leave the area, call the gas utility from outside, and do not touch switches.
- An orange ring does not need a repair, so we only come out when the halos stay dark after power, GFI and fuse are checked.
- Gas lines and connections are work for a licensed plumber, and we separate that from the electrical side when we inspect.
- On a grill that is several years old we confirm parts availability first, and we tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Why is the ring around my DCS grill dial orange?
An orange halo shows that dial is in use. It turns white if you switch that dial off while another dial is still active, and all halos dim when every dial is off. It is not an error.
What if none of the dial halos light up?
Check that the grill has live power, reset a tripped GFI outlet, and look at the fuse. If the halos stay dark after that, call us or fill out the online form to schedule service.
Does an orange halo mean gas is leaking?
No. The halo only shows a dial is in use. If you ever smell gas, leave the area and call the gas utility from outside. Any gas line work goes to a licensed plumber.
