What A2 means

On DCS WOSV230 and WODV230 wall ovens, A2 is a door lock error. It appears when you start a Self Clean cycle and the oven cannot lock the door. The oven will not run the cleaning cycle with an unlocked door, because the high heat of Self Clean requires a locked door. You see A2 on the display and the cycle does not begin.

Common causes of A2

  • A door that was not closed fully when Self Clean started
  • A lock motor or latch that did not reach its start position
  • A lock switch or wiring that needs testing if A2 returns
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Make sure the oven is cool and the fans have stopped. 2. Switch the oven's power off at the breaker and back on. 3. Wait about 10 seconds so the lock returns to its start position. 4. Set the clock again. 5. Try Self Clean once more and close the door firmly.

! Why to stop there
  • If A2 comes back after the power cycle and a firmly closed door, the lock itself needs testing, and we check the latch, motor and switch.
  • A door that will not lock also means Self Clean is unsafe to run, so please do not try to force it.
  • We give a written price first, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
A2A2 questions
Why does my DCS oven show A2 when I start Self Clean?

The oven could not lock the door after you started the cycle. It will not clean with an unlocked door, so it stops and shows A2 instead.

How do I clear A2?

With the oven cool, switch power off and on at the breaker, wait about 10 seconds, set the clock, then try Self Clean again with the door closed firmly.

What if A2 returns?

Then the lock mechanism needs a test. Call us or use the online form to schedule service, and avoid Self Clean until we have checked the door lock.
