BE1-48C-N

DCS BE1-48C-N Charcoal Insert Grill Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Hood drifting down because the hinge springs are tired
  2. Burner valves sticking after a winter uncovered
  3. Gas smell at startup from a dial left a little open
  4. Uneven lighting across the wide firebox

The BE1-48C-N is a 48-inch Series 9 grill with a charcoal insert and no rotisserie, on natural gas. It sears across the full surface with 25,000 BTU per hour per burner and has stainless double-sided grates and a secondary cooking surface. It is a current model, and an LP version is sold as BE1-48C-L.

A large hood is heavy, so weak hinge springs are a common call on a 48-inch grill: the hood drifts down when you lift it. Burner valves can stiffen after a winter spent uncovered, and one dial left a little open can leave a gas smell at the next startup. If you smell gas, close the supply, ventilate, and call us before lighting anything.

We check each burner at high and low across the wide firebox, and clean the grates and ports while we are there. A written price comes first. Gas lines go to a licensed plumber, and we confirm the full number on the label before ordering.

BE1-48C-NBE1-48C-N questions
Why does my grill hood not stay up?

The hinge springs weaken with age, and a 48-inch hood is heavy. We replace the springs or adjust them so the hood holds open safely.

Why are my burner knobs stiff?

Moisture and weather can stiffen valves, especially after the grill sits uncovered. We free or replace the valve and check that the flame is stable.

What if I smell gas when I start the grill?

Close the tank or supply valve, open the hood, and wait before trying again. If the smell remains, call us. A leak in the supply line behind the grill goes to a licensed plumber.
