BGC48-BQAR
DCS BGC48-BQAR 48-Inch Rotisserie Grill
Most common issues on this model
- Uneven heating across the wide firebox
- Rotisserie motor gearbox worn
- Hood counterbalance weak
- Valves slow to respond
The BGC48-BQAR is a 48-inch professional grill with a rotisserie from the older BGC generation, for building in or setting on a cart. Its guide is the same one that covers the BGC36-BQAR and the BGC48-BQR, so the AR at the end of the number is what separates it.
At 48 inches the hood is big and heavy, and the counterbalance that holds it open wears out first on many grills. We test the lift and the hinges, and replace the springs or counterweights when the hood drifts. The rotisserie gearbox wears after many heavy roasts and starts to whine or stall. Heat that is uneven across the width takes us burner by burner.
We check for parts availability before we commit, because some pieces for the BGC grills are scarce, and we will tell you when a repair is not worth the money. You see the price in writing first. Gas supply to the island is a licensed plumber’s work.

Error codes this model can show
Why does my heavy hood fall shut?
The counterbalance springs or weights have weakened. A hood this size can injure a hand, so we replace the lift parts and test that it stays where you leave it.
Why is my rotisserie motor whining?
A worn gearbox is a likely cause, especially after years of heavy roasts. We check the load and the gearbox and replace the motor if the gears are worn.
How can heat be uneven across a 48-inch grill?
Individual burners can be clogged or weak, so the heat varies along the width. We light each one, compare the flames, and clean or replace the odd burner out.
