The GDSBE1-302-N pairs a 30-inch Series 9 griddle with a dual side burner in one natural gas module. It can be built in or placed on a CAD1-30E cart, and its ignition and dial lighting are interconnected with the other Series 9 modules. The LP version is the GDSBE1-302-L.
Because the side burners and the griddle share one body, the first question is which part is not working. If the side burners light but the griddle does not, we test the griddle burner, its valve and its ignitor on their own. If the griddle heats slowly on the side next to the burners, we check the flame and the gas flow rather than blaming the plate.
A dial that has lost its light is usually a small wiring or bezel problem and does not affect cooking. The label gives us the full model and serial for ordering, and we quote a written price before we start.

My side burners light but the griddle does not. Why?
They use separate burners and valves. We test the griddle ignitor and spark first, then look at the burner and gas flow. A problem with one rarely means the other is damaged.
The griddle heats slowly on one side. Is that normal?
Not usually. Uneven heating can come from a partly blocked burner, a weak flame or a stiff valve. We compare the flame under each section and clean or replace what is needed.
One dial lost its light. Does that affect cooking?
The light and the burner are separate. We check the bezel and the wiring that feeds the dial lighting, and test that the burner still lights normally from that knob.
