PBE1-24-N

DCS PBE1-24-N Power Burner Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Low simmer flame stability
  2. Flame shape at full power
  3. Ignition timing and delayed lighting
  4. Burner cap seating and port cleanliness

The PBE1-24-N is a 24-inch Series 9 power burner on natural gas, with an output that adjusts from 70,000 BTU down to 1,300 BTU. Its cast brass burners and grates are shaped for pots and woks, and the illuminated dials are interconnected with the other Series 9 modules. The LP version is the PBE1-24-L.

A burner with that much range is sensitive to small problems. A flame that will not hold a low simmer often means partly blocked ports, a burner cap that is not seated, or air shutter and valve issues at the bottom of the range. A loud roar or a flame lifting off the burner at full power points to the same family of causes. A soft whoomp when the burner lights tells us ignition is arriving late.

We clean and test first, then replace parts. We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering anything. Gas supply work beyond the module is for a licensed plumber.

PBE1-24-NPBE1-24-N questions
Why will my power burner not hold a low simmer?

Blocked ports, a burner cap that is not seated, or a valve that does not meter the low setting properly are the usual causes. We clean and test the burner at both ends of its range.

What does a loud roar at full power mean?

It usually means the flame and air mix is off, or ports are partly blocked. We check the burner and cap, inspect the flame at high and low settings, and adjust or replace the part.

Why does my burner light with a soft whoomp?

Gas is building up before the spark lights it. We check the electrode position, spark strength and ports. Do not keep clicking the igniter; turn the knob off and call us.
