CT-304
DCS CT-304 Drop-In Gas Cooktop Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Inner simmer ring will not ignite
- Cap sitting off-center after a wipe-down
- Ignitor clicking nonstop
- Worn finish around the burner wells
The DCS CT-304 is an older drop-in gas cooktop for a 30-inch cutout, with four sealed Dual Flow Burners. The high-output burner is quoted at up to 15,000 BTU, and the number is also found with finish suffixes such as CT-304SS, CT-304BK and CT-304WT.
A Dual Flow Burner has an inner ring for low heat and an outer ring for high heat. When the inner simmer ring will not light, the cause is usually a clogged port or a cap sitting off its seat, and we check those before the ignitor. Constant clicking tells us something is wet or the ignitor is dirty.
Parts for older drop-in cooktops can be scarce, so we check what is available and tell you straight if a repair does not make sense. We put the price in writing before work starts. The finish suffix and serial on the label are what we match before ordering.
Key features
- Drop-in gas cooktop for 30-inch cutouts, four burners
- Sealed Dual Flow Burners
- Top burner quoted at up to 15,000 BTU
- Also found as CT-304SS, CT-304BK and CT-304WT
Why does only the inner ring of my burner not light?
The inner ring is small and its ports clog easily. A misaligned cap can also cover it. We clean the ports and reseat the cap before looking at the ignitor.
What do SS, BK and WT mean on CT-304?
They are finish versions of the same model: stainless, black, and white. The burners are alike, but the finish matters for trim parts, so we read the label.
Why does my ignitor click constantly?
A wet or dirty ignitor that senses no flame keeps clicking. Boil-over is the usual cause. We dry and clean it, then test the ignitor and module.
