What COOLING means
On DCS WOSV230 and WODV230 wall ovens, COOLING in the display is a normal status message, not an error. It means you canceled the Self Clean cycle, which was the correct thing to do, and the oven is still too hot for cooking. It needs to cool down first. The door unlocks with a long tone when the oven is ready, and the wait can be up to 45 minutes.
Common causes of COOLING
- A canceled Self Clean cycle with the cavity still very hot
- A normal cool-down that has not finished yet
- No problem with the oven at all
1. Wait until the cool-down phase finishes. 2. Listen for the long tone, which tells you the door has unlocked. 3. Keep the fans powered so they can cool the oven, and do not switch the oven off at the breaker. 4. Do not try to open or force the door before the tone. 5. Start cooking again once COOLING disappears.
- COOLING is normal and needs no repair, so we only come out if the door never unlocks or the message never ends.
- If the door stays locked long after the oven is cool, the cause is a lock or control issue, and we test it.
- A written price comes before any work, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
