DCS BH1-48RS-N Side Burner Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Side burner ignition and flame when the main grill lights
  2. Wind protection and flame stability on open decks
  3. Rotisserie motor bracket and spit rod fit
  4. Smoker tray and grease channel cleanliness

This is the 48-inch Series 7 grill with a rotisserie and integrated side burners, built for natural gas. It uses double-sided cast stainless grates with grease channeling and includes a smoker tray. An LP version is sold as the BH1-48RS-L.

With side burners built into the same body, a common call is one burner group that lights while the other will not. We check the ignition electrode and the gas path to the side burner separately from the main burners. On a covered patio or open deck we also look at whether wind is blowing the small side flames out, which is not a part failure at all.

A loose rotisserie bracket is another quick check, since the motor turns a heavy load. We read the full model and serial from the label before ordering anything, because 36- and 48-inch Series 7 grills share many look-alike parts. A gas line problem outside the grill goes to a licensed plumber.

BH1-48RS-NBH1-48RS-N questions
Why will my side burner not light while the main grill works?

The side burner has its own electrode and gas path. We test the spark, clean the burner ports and check the gas flow at that burner. Wind and grease are also frequent causes, so we look at the surroundings too.

What does the smoker tray need from you?

Keep it emptied and free of ash so the burner below it breathes and grease does not collect. If the tray area smells of gas or the flame is yellow, call us before using the grill again.

Is this model sold for LP gas as well?

Yes, the LP version is the BH1-48RS-L. The two differ in orifices and regulator setup, so we confirm which fuel your grill uses from the label before ordering parts.
