DD-36SS
DCS DD-36SS Downdraft Hood Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Rising and lowering failure
- Blower strength
- Filter clogging below the counter
- Stainless panel and seals
The DD-36SS is a discontinued stainless downdraft vent, 36 inches wide, that comes up behind the cooktop while you cook. Its 30-inch sibling is the DD-30SS. It suits a cooktop where a wall hood is not possible, such as an island, and it remains in many Houston kitchens.
A downdraft that will not rise or lower is the call we get most, and the cause is mechanical or electrical: a jam, the switch, or the drive. A blower that has gone weak and filters clogged below the counter are the next two. Because the unit is mounted below, we ask what is stored in the cabinet before the visit.
We read the full model and serial from the label before ordering a part. Since DCS no longer makes it, some parts are hard to find. We check availability first, give a written price before work, and say plainly when a repair is not worth it.
Key features
- Stainless downdraft vent, 36 inches wide
- Comes up behind the cooktop while you cook
- Smaller sibling: the DD-30SS
- Discontinued DCS model
What if my downdraft is stuck down?
A jam, a failed switch or a drive problem. We test power at the switch, then the motor, and check for debris in the lift path.
Is the 36-inch the same as the 30-inch?
The design is similar, but the sizes differ and some parts do not interchange between them. We match every part to the number on your label before ordering.
Where are the filters?
Below the counter, where grease collects. A clogged filter cuts airflow badly. We clean or replace it, then check how air moves through the rest of the system.
