Most common issues on this model
- Intermittent fan switch
- Grease filters clogged
- Chimney section loose
- Light and wiring
The EH-36SS is an early DCS hood: a 36-inch stainless euro-style updraft hood, with a 30-inch sibling in the EH-30SS. It is an older model that we repair for owners who like its look over a wide range.
A hood this wide pulls a lot of air, so its filters take on a lot of grease. Clogged filters are the first thing we look at when airflow drops. An intermittent fan switch is the next, because it takes thousands of presses. And a chimney that has loosened over time can rattle against the wall or the ceiling, which we secure.
Switches and chimney trim for an early hood can be scarce. We find out what is obtainable before quoting, and a repair that would cost more than the hood is worth is one we advise against. Parts are ordered from the model and serial on the label.
Key features
- 36-inch updraft euro hood, stainless
- 30-inch sibling: EH-30SS
- Early DCS hood
- Grease filters and fan switch
My hood does not pull like it used to. Why?
Grease in the filters is the first suspect, then the blower. We clean the filters, check the fan speed on each setting and test the motor if airflow is still weak.
The fan switch works only intermittently. Can it be replaced?
Often, if we can source the switch for this early hood. We test the switch and wiring first so we replace the right part, and we tell you if one cannot be found.
What if the chimney rattles?
It has usually loosened at its mounts. We tighten it and check the wall bracket, and look for loose blower parts that add to the noise.
