Most common issues on this model
- Lights out on one side
- Control switch failing
- Drip trays overflowing
- Blower and mounting
The IVS52 is a discontinued 52-inch professional island hood, made for wide island ranges and rangetops. A smaller sibling, the IVS40, exists in the same family. At this width a hood has a lot of cooking surface to cover, and its parts work hard.
Lighting calls are common on a wide hood because lamps run along both sides. When the lights are out on one side only, we check the socket and wiring on that side before replacing anything. A control switch that fails leaves the blower or lights unpredictable. Drip trays that overflow tell us the filters are saturated, and they can drip grease onto the cooktop below.
We repair the hood and leave the duct work above the ceiling to a contractor. Few parts remain for a discontinued hood this size. We check availability, give a written price, and advise against a repair that costs more than the hood is worth.
Key features
- 52-inch professional island vent hood
- Sized for wide island ranges and rangetops
- Discontinued DCS model
- 40-inch sibling: IVS40
Why are the lights out on only one side?
The socket, wiring or a lamp on that side has failed. We test each before replacing, so a one-sided problem is not fixed with the wrong part.
My drip trays overflow. What does that mean?
Grease has filled the trays and filters faster than they were cleaned. We clean or replace them and check that nothing is dripping onto the cooktop.
Can the control switch be replaced?
Often yes, if we can find the switch for this older model. We test it first so we know whether the switch or the wiring is the cause.
