WD-30SS

DCS WD-30SS Stainless Drawer Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Drawer temperature that is too hot
  2. Indicator light
  3. Drawer glides
  4. Thermostat and control knob
  5. Heating element

The WD-30SS is a 30-inch indoor warming drawer in stainless, a discontinued DCS professional model. It was also made in colors, with the model numbers WD-30BK, WD-30WT, WD-30GN, WD-30BL and WD-30PL. At 30 inches wide it holds more than its 27-inch sibling, and it is common under wall ovens or beside a range.

If the drawer gets too hot for bread or plates, the thermostat and the control are the first parts we test, since they decide where the heat stops. A dead indicator light is usually a simpler problem, either the light itself or its wiring. Worn glides make the drawer stiff or uneven when it opens, so we inspect them and the rollers. We also test the element to confirm it heats the way it should.

Older parts can be difficult to find, so we check availability before starting, give a written price and say plainly when a repair is not worth it. Our repairs come with 30 days of workmanship coverage. Before any part is ordered, the rating label confirms the model and serial number.

WD-30SSWD-30SS questions
My warming drawer gets too hot. Can you fix it?

Yes, in most cases. We test the thermostat and the control and replace the part that is allowing the heat to climb. It is a quick test that tells us whether to replace the control.

The indicator light is out but the drawer still warms. Why?

The light or its wiring has likely failed, which is separate from the heating system. We test it and replace it if needed. Replacing it is usually inexpensive.

Why does the drawer feel stiff when it opens?

Worn glides or rollers are the usual cause on an older drawer. We inspect and replace them, quoting the price first. We also check the track for dirt.
