What A1 means
On a DCS WOSV230 or WODV230, the last DCS wall ovens in the 30-inch size, A1 means the oven has overheated. It suspends all functions, beeps five times and shows the alert code. This is the oven protecting itself, and it will not heat again until it has cooled. Once it is cool and the door has unlocked, A1 disappears from the display on its own. The cooling fans keep running during all of this, and they are needed.
Common causes of A1
- Heat that built up during a long or very high-temperature cycle
- Air flow around the oven or its vents that is restricted
- Temperature sensing or a cooling fan that needs checking if A1 keeps coming back
1. Leave the oven alone and let it cool down. Do not switch it off at the breaker, because the cooling fans must keep running. 2. Wait until the door has unlocked. The alert code then disappears by itself. 3. Check that the vents and trim around the oven are not blocked or covered. 4. Write down what you were cooking and at what setting when A1 appeared. 5. If the alert returns, call us before using the oven again.
- If A1 returns after a full cool-down and ordinary cooking, the oven is overheating again, so we check how its temperature sensing and fans behave.
- We never ask you to cut power while an alert is on, because the fans need to bring the temperature down first.
- Replacement parts for these ovens are checked before we commit to a date, and a written quote comes first.
Other Wall Oven codes
What does A1 on my DCS wall oven tell me?
The oven has overheated. It stops all functions, beeps five times and shows A1 while it protects itself. Once it has cooled and the door has unlocked, the code clears by itself.
Should I turn the power off at the breaker?
No. Let the fans run until the oven is cool. Cutting power while the fans are running stops the cooling they are doing, and the oven needs that to recover.
How long until I can use the oven again?
Wait until the door unlocks and A1 disappears. If it comes back on the next normal use, book a visit with us.
