Most common issues on this model
- Burner ignitor condition
- Oven element
- Oven temperature control
- Gas and electric connections
The RDS-305 is a discontinued 30-inch dual-fuel range from DCS: five gas burners on top and an electric oven below. It belongs to the RDS series, the dual-fuel counterpart to the all-gas RGS. In Houston it usually sits in a kitchen where cooks wanted gas flame and electric baking.
Dual fuel means two systems, so we sort out which side has the problem. A cracked burner ignitor, or one that clicks but does not light, is a cooktop issue. An oven element that has burned out or a control that cannot hold temperature is an oven issue. We test each side separately, so we do not replace parts on the wrong one.
Gas supply work beyond the range goes to a licensed plumber, and the 240 V circuit goes to an electrician. The range is discontinued, so parts can be scarce, and we say so before you spend money on a repair. The label gives us the model and serial first.

Is it a gas problem or an electric one?
The burners are gas and the oven is electric. We test the side that is failing, and a problem on one side rarely points to the other.
One burner clicks but does not light. What do you check?
The ignitor, the burner ports and the spark. A cracked ignitor or a clogged port is common on older gas burners. We clean and test the burner before replacing any parts.
My oven does not hold temperature. What is the cause?
A tired element, a sensor reading wrong or the control itself. We measure the real oven temperature against the setting and test each part, starting with the simplest.
