RDU-305

DCS RDU-305 Five-Burner Range Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Broil element heat and wiring
  2. Self-clean door lock release
  3. Surface burner ignition without gas flow
  4. Bake element and oven thermostat
  5. Door latch and gasket

The RDU-305 is a 30-inch dual fuel range with five burners on top and an electric self-cleaning oven. It is a legacy model in the DCS professional RGU, RDU and RGUC family, and plenty of them are still cooking in Houston homes.

Its width means it often sits where a standard freestanding 30-inch range would go. When the oven stops heating, we begin with the bake and broil elements and their connections, since the electric oven is a separate system from the gas top. If the door will not release after a clean, we check the lock mechanism and its switch. If a burner sparks but no flame appears, we look at the igniter, the burner cap seating and the gas flow to that burner.

We service the range itself. A gas shutoff or line that needs attention goes to a licensed plumber. Some older DCS parts are scarce, so we confirm what is available before we start, quote the price in writing, and say plainly when replacing the range makes more sense. The full model and serial number come from the label before parts are ordered.

RDU-305RDU-305 questions
My RDU-305 oven will not broil. What do you check?

We test the broil element for continuity, then look at its terminals and wiring for heat damage. On an electric oven that is the quickest way to tell whether the element or the control is the cause.

The door stays locked after self-clean. Is that serious?

Not usually. We check the lock motor or latch and its switch, and make sure the oven has cooled. A stuck lock is often a mechanical or switch problem that we can test directly.

Do you repair five-burner dual fuel ranges like this one?

Yes. We work on the gas surface burners and the electric oven together, and we explain which side has the problem before we quote the repair in writing.
