RDV-305
DCS RDV-305 Self-Cleaning Range Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Door lock release after a clean cycle
- Bake element condition
- Convection fan sound and airflow
- Oven temperature accuracy
- Five burner ignition
The RDV-305 is a legacy 30-inch DCS dual fuel range: five gas burners on the cooktop and a self-cleaning electric oven that locks its own door during a clean. It is the kind of range that fits a standard 30-inch opening, so it turns up in many ordinary Houston kitchens as well as remodeled ones.
The self-clean cycle is where we spend our time on this model. The door locks automatically, and if it stays locked once the oven has cooled, we examine the latch, the lock motor and the switch that reports its position. Elsewhere in the oven we inspect the bake element for damage, listen to the convection fan for rattling or rubbing, and compare real oven temperature with the setting. On top, each of the five burners is tested for ignition and flame.
Our work stops at the appliance; a licensed plumber should handle gas line changes. Some parts for this older range are hard to find, so we confirm them before ordering and quote the price in writing. If the cost makes replacement the smarter choice, we will say that. The model and serial number come from the label.

Error codes this model can show
Why is my oven door still locked after cleaning?
The lock motor, the latch or the position switch may not have reset. We check each one, and also confirm the oven has fully cooled, since the lock normally holds until it does.
The convection fan is loud. Should I keep using the oven?
A noisy fan usually means a worn motor, a loose blade or something touching it. We would rather inspect it than have it fail during a roast, so we test it and quote any part first.
Does a 30-inch dual fuel range need anything special at home?
It needs a gas connection and a 240-volt supply. We check the range itself and send gas line or shutoff questions to a licensed plumber.
