RDV2-488

DCS RDV2-488 Eight-Burner Range Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Eight burner ignition and flame
  2. Main oven heating and temperature
  3. Secondary oven operation
  4. Door lock after self-clean
  5. Oven mode halo behavior

The RDV2-488 is a 48-inch dual fuel range with eight gas burners, an electric main oven and a smaller electric secondary oven, both able to self-clean. It is one of the largest cooktops in the last generation of DCS ranges, built for serious entertaining.

With eight burners, the first job is a systematic test of each one: lighting, flame shape and response from high to low. Two burners clicking at once, a very large flame or a burner that will not hold a flame each lead us somewhere different. In the ovens we test bake and broil heat, compare real temperature with the dial setting, and check the door lock after a clean. If the oven mode halo flashes, we trace what the control is reacting to.

A range of this size needs a clear path and access, so tell us if the kitchen is tight when you book. We read the model and serial number from the label before ordering parts, give a written price first, and back our work with a 30-day workmanship warranty. Gas line work beyond the range goes to a licensed plumber.

RDV2-488RDV2-488 questions
Why do several burners click at once?

Most spark igniters fire together when one burner is turned on, but continued clicking after the flame is lit can mean a dirty or wet igniter or burner. We test and clean them.

What is different about servicing two ovens?

Each oven has its own element, controls and sensors. We check them separately so we know which one needs the repair. If one oven is affected, it does not mean the other needs work.

My main oven is not reaching temperature. What do you check?

We test the bake and broil elements, the temperature sensor and the controls, then compare actual temperature to the setting. If the oven still does not reach temperature, we trace the problem back through the control to the heating parts.
