The RGCV2-305 is a 30-inch all-gas range from the last generation of DCS ranges. It has five burners on top and a self-cleaning gas oven, so there is no electric heating element in the oven. A shipping spacer protects the broiler during delivery, and it has to be removed before first use.
That spacer is the first thing we look for when the broiler will not light on a newer installation, since a forgotten spacer can interfere with the flame. Otherwise, a gas broiler or oven that is slow or will not light sends us to the igniter, the burner and the gas flow. If a clean cycle will not start or the door stays locked, we test the lock mechanism and the controls that start and end the cycle.

The broiler will not light on my new RGCV2-305. What now?
Check that the shipping spacer was removed. If it was, we test the broiler igniter, the burner and the gas flow. Leaving the spacer in place can also keep the oven from working properly after installation.
Does this range need an electric oven element?
No. It is an all-gas range with a gas oven and broiler, though it still needs a normal electrical connection for controls and ignition. We check that supply as well as the gas side when the range misbehaves.
Why will my self-clean cycle not start?
The door may not be latching, or the lock motor or controls may not be responding. We test the lock and the cycle controls before quoting a repair.
