One item we check on every visit is the anti-tip bracket at the right rear of the range. If the range was pulled out for cleaning or a past repair and the bracket was never re-engaged, the range can tip forward when the oven door is opened and loaded. We also compare the actual oven temperature to the thermostat setting, look at chipped or worn burner grates, and test the burner flames and the oven igniter.

Why does the anti-tip bracket matter on a gas range?
It keeps a heavy range from tipping forward when the oven door is open under a load. If the bracket is missing or the range is not engaged in it, we tell you and help you correct it.
My oven does not match the temperature I set. Can you adjust it?
Often yes. We measure the oven's actual temperature against the dial, test the thermostat and igniter, and adjust or replace the part that has drifted, with the price in writing first.
Does an all-gas range still need electricity?
Yes, a normal outlet powers ignition and controls. If the power is out, burners may not spark, so we check the outlet as part of any no-light call.
