The RDS-486GL is a 48-inch dual-fuel range from the older DCS sealed-burner RDS line, with the same family as the RDS-485. The letters at the end of the number matter when we order parts, so we confirm them from the label.
As with other ranges of this type, we separate the gas side from the electric side. Burners that do not light or flame unevenly are checked at the ignitor and ports. Ovens that heat slowly or unevenly are checked at the element, the sensor and the control. On such a large range, a problem on only one burner or one oven is far more common than a problem on all of them.
If you see a gas smell, turn off the burners, leave the area and call your gas utility first. Gas line work belongs to a licensed plumber and wiring to an electrician. Older ranges can run short of parts, and we will not recommend a repair that costs more than the range justifies.
