RGT-486GD
DCS RGT-486GD Six-Burner Gas Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Six burner ignition
- Griddle burner and control
- Gas oven igniter and burner
- Temperature accuracy
- Grease around the griddle
The RGT-486GD gives a 48-inch all-gas range six burners plus a griddle, from the DCS Traditional (RGT) line. It is an older model that many Houston owners have kept in daily use for years.
With that many burners, we light each in turn and watch for slow lighting, repeated clicking or a ragged flame. The griddle is tested for heat control and how evenly it warms. In the oven, we look at the igniter and burner flame and compare the real temperature with the setting. Griddle grease can find its way under the cooktop, so we look there when it is safe to reach.
We are plain about parts: some for this older line are hard to find, so we confirm them before the repair and quote in writing. A licensed plumber handles any gas line or shutoff work beyond the range. Our repairs have a 30-day workmanship warranty, and the model and serial number are read from the label before we order.

What is the layout of the RGT-486GD?
It is a 48-inch gas range with six burners and a griddle. We read the label to confirm the full model number. Both the cooktop and the oven burn gas.
One of the six burners clicks but does not light. Why?
A dirty port, a loose cap or a weak igniter are the usual causes. We clean and test before recommending a part. If the igniter is the cause, we replace only that part.
Can an old gas oven keep a steady temperature?
Often yes, if the igniter and thermostat are sound. We compare real temperature with the dial and adjust or replace what is off. That keeps the repair small and the price fair.
