What OFF in both displays, flashing colon (power-cut set-up mode) means
On DCS WOSU30, WOSV30, WODU30 and WODV30 wall ovens, this is the older 30-inch series, and it is still in many Houston homes. After a power cut the oven goes into Set Up mode. The oven mode and temperature displays both show OFF, they look dim or unresponsive, and the colon in the clock flashes. It is a customer-visible message, not a failed part. The oven is simply waiting for you to set the clock.
Common causes of OFF in both displays, flashing colon (power-cut set-up mode)
- A power cut or breaker trip that reset the oven
- A clock that has not been set since power returned
- Nothing wrong with the oven itself
1. Check that power is back and the breaker is on. 2. Look at the clock colon. If it is flashing, the oven is in Set Up mode. 3. Follow the Setting the Clock steps in the owner's manual. 4. Enter the time of day. 5. Test the oven once the clock is set and the displays respond.
- Setting the clock normally brings the oven back, so we only visit if the displays stay dark or OFF after you do.
- If the oven keeps dropping into Set Up with no power cut, we test the supply and the control.
- The WOS line is older, and we repair it, though some parts are scarce, so we confirm what is available before the work.
