What DOOR means
On DCS RF15I outdoor ice machines, including the RF15IR3, the RF15IL3 and the earlier RF15I, the DOOR indicator lights and flashes when the door is open or not closed properly for five minutes, and a tone sounds with it. Pressing the Lock key mutes the tone. Closing the door, or momentarily pressing ON/OFF, resets the alert. If the door is still not shut properly, the alert comes back five minutes later.
Common causes of DOOR
- A door left open or not latched
- Something in the opening that keeps the door from closing fully
- A door that sits crooked on its hinges or seal
1. Close the door all the way and check that it latches. 2. Press the Lock key if you need to mute the tone. 3. Momentarily press ON/OFF to reset the alert. 4. Remove anything that sticks out into the door opening. 5. Watch the indicator for five minutes to see whether it returns.
- If DOOR returns with the door shut, we check how the door closes and whether the machine senses it correctly.
- An ice machine with a poor door seal can melt ice and waste water, so we look at the seal too.
- We give a written price before work, and repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Why is DOOR flashing on my DCS ice machine?
The door has been open, or not closed properly, for five minutes. The indicator flashes and a tone sounds until you close the door or reset with ON/OFF.
Why did the alert come back after I muted it?
Muting with the Lock key only silences the tone. If the door is still not closed, the alert repeats in five minutes, so the real fix is to latch the door.
What if the door is closed but DOOR still shows?
Check that nothing sits in the opening. If it still flashes, call us or fill out the online form to schedule service, and we will test the door and its signal.
Still unsure about DOOR?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
