What E1 means
On DCS RF24RE3 and RF24LE3 outdoor refrigerators, and on RF24TR1, RF24TL1, RF24BTR1 and RF24BTL1 beer dispensers, E1 means the controller detects that the temperature sensor is not working properly. The unit sounds an alarm at one-second intervals, E1 flashes on the display and the Alarm LED lights. Because the control relies on that sensor to hold temperature, cooling may no longer be accurate while E1 shows.
Common causes of E1
- The temperature sensor itself or its reading
- The sensor wiring or connector
- The control that reads the sensor
1. Press any key to mute the audible alarm. E1 keeps flashing, and the alarm repeats for 20 seconds every 60 minutes while the condition continues. 2. Check what is inside the refrigerator or beer dispenser and whether it still feels cold. 3. Move anything perishable to another refrigerator if it is warming up. 4. Write down the model number from the label. 5. Keep the door closed as much as possible.
- Muting the alarm does not clear E1, so the sensor circuit still needs to be tested.
- We check the sensor reading against the actual cabinet temperature before deciding what to replace.
- You get a written price first, and we confirm the part is available before the repair.

What does E1 mean on my DCS outdoor refrigerator?
The controller detects that the temperature sensor is not working properly. The unit beeps, E1 flashes and the Alarm LED lights. Cooling may not be accurate until the sensor circuit is checked.
Why does the alarm keep coming back?
Pressing a key only mutes the sound. While the condition continues, the alarm repeats for 20 seconds every 60 minutes, and E1 keeps flashing on the display.
Is the food safe while E1 is showing?
Check how cold the cabinet actually feels. If you doubt the temperature, move perishables to another refrigerator, and call us or use the online form to schedule service.
Still seeing E1?
