What ICE flashing means
On DCS RF15I outdoor ice machines, including the RF15IR3, the RF15IL3 and the earlier RF15I, ICE flashing continuously with no audible alarm is a system sensor error. The sensor that reads condenser temperature is no longer working. The machine keeps running, but its ice cycle can no longer adapt to the outdoor conditions, so the quality of the ice may vary. The same word also flashes briefly while you set up ECO mode, which is normal.
Common causes of ICE flashing
- A condenser temperature sensor that has failed
- Wiring or a connector at the sensor
- A control that no longer receives the sensor reading
1. Check whether the flashing started during ECO mode setup. If so, it ends when you finish that setup. 2. If it flashes on its own, keep using the machine only if the ice looks and tastes normal. 3. Note any change in ice size or clarity. 4. Keep the condenser area free of leaves and debris. 5. Call us for the sensor check described in the owner's manual.
- The flashing tells us the sensor is the likely concern, but we confirm that by testing before replacing anything.
- Outdoor weather swings make a missing sensor more noticeable, so ice may look different from day to day.
- The sensor is ordered only after we confirm the diagnosis, and the written price reaches you before any part is changed.

Why is ICE flashing on my DCS ice machine?
It is a system sensor alert. The sensor that reads condenser temperature has failed, so the machine keeps running but cannot adjust its ice cycle to the conditions, and ice quality may vary.
Is it the same ICE flashing I see in ECO mode?
ICE also flashes during ECO mode setup, which is normal. If it flashes continuously on its own, with no tone, treat it as the sensor alert.
Can I keep using the machine?
It still works, but the ice may be inconsistent. Schedule a visit, and we will test that sensor before swapping it.
Still seeing ICE flashing?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
