RF24-D
DCS RF24-D Refrigerated Drawers Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Alarm LED color and what it points to
- GFCI circuit tripping and power loss
- Compressor and condenser fan operation
- Drawer gasket and closure
The RF24-D is the first DCS outdoor refrigerated drawer, a 24-inch unit with a temperature range of 33 to 47°F that starts out set at 38°F. One LED serves as the alarm: green when a door is ajar, red for temperature, and amber after a power failure. It is an older model and we repair it.
The amber light is the one we see most in Houston, because an outdoor unit shares a GFCI circuit that trips during storms or after a damp night. If the outlet keeps tripping, an electrician checks the outdoor circuit, and we test the drawer on a known good supply. A red light on a working circuit makes us check the condenser fan, the compressor and the drawer seals.
Parts for this early drawer can be scarce, so we confirm availability and tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it. The full model and serial come from the label before we order parts.

Error codes this model can show
What does the amber light mean on this unit?
On the RF24-D it points to a power interruption. Check whether the outdoor GFCI outlet tripped. If it keeps tripping, an electrician should check the circuit, and we test the unit on a stable supply.
The red light is on. What do you check?
Red is the temperature alarm. We check the condenser for debris, the condenser fan, compressor start, and whether the drawers are sealing. A drawer left ajar in the heat can also trigger it.
Can I set the temperature myself?
Yes, within the 33 to 47°F range. It starts at 38°F. If a unit will not hold the setting we check the sensors and cooling parts instead of just adjusting it.
