RF15IR3
DCS RF15IR3 Ice Machine Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Scale on the evaporator and slow ice production
- Drain line routed too high
- Ice sensor and water sensor behavior
- Eco mode and delay start settings
The RF15IR3 is a current outdoor ice machine, 15 inches wide, whose door opens from the right; the left-opening version is the RF15IL3. Eco mode and delay start let owners cut water and power use, the drain works by gravity or with an optional pump, and the bin is intentionally held just above freezing.
That last point surprises owners. Ice in the bin softens and shrinks a little between cycles on purpose, so we separate that normal behavior from a real problem. Slow production usually traces to scale on the evaporator, and water on the floor to a drain line routed too high. When the display flashes an off or ice message, we check the sensors, the water supply and whether eco mode or delay start was left on.
The label gives us the model and serial before we order parts. Any water supply line work beyond the machine goes to a licensed plumber. We give a written price before work and back repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Why does ice in my bin look soft and smaller?
The bin is kept slightly above freezing by design, so ice can melt a little between harvests. We tell this normal behavior apart from a drain or temperature problem.
What do eco mode and delay start change?
They save water and energy by changing when and how the machine makes ice. If ice seems slow or missing, we first check whether one of those modes is active before testing parts.
My machine has water on the floor. What do you check?
The drain first. A line routed too high or kinked sends water back, and a pump that stalls does the same. We trace the line and test the pump if you have one.
